Players are taught the basics of baseball with coaches pitching and every player participating in the field. Practice/games are twice a week. The first 45 minutes is dedicated to instruction, the last 45 minutes is a game (generally two innings.) No score is kept, outs are recorded, and every player gets a chance to hit each inning. Players are assigned to teams randomly.

Second grade baseball is a transition to kid-pitch. The season will start with some coach pitching and by mid-season players will be pitching in game like situations. Practice/games are twice a week, no score is kept, but outs ARE recorded. The emphasis is still on teaching fundamentals and helping each player develop confidence. Coordinators will work with coaches to assign players randomly, but will do their best to balance teams. 

This is a significant transition year for Spring baseball. Standings (with wins and losses) will be kept. It's 'real baseball' with kids pitching/catching, there are 9 (or sometimes 10) players in the field. Games will have a junior umpire calling balls/strikes/outs. The schedule will include games against Medfield, Dover-Sherborn and possibly Millis. All teams qualify for the playoffs, and the Championship game will be played at Metacomet! Coaches and coordinators will work together to assign players to teams.  

 

Majors is the highest level of Little League played on the "Small Diamond" at Metacomet park and is highly competitive division. The season will include games against Medfield and Dover-Sherborn teams.

Players are selected for teams using the MYBS Uniform Draft Policy (see Spring Rules page).
