MYBS offers programs for rising 2nd graders (current 1st graders) through players who are going to be entering the 8th grade in the Fall.
We do not offer Summer Softball programs for current Kindergarteners (rising 1st graders in the Fall).
Sandlot SOFTBALL
Pick-up style softball open to players who are currently in the 1st or 2nd grade. This is a one night per week program that will run for 6 or 7 weeks at Wheelock School's softball fields. Players will be divided into two groups based on their age/grade/ability (4th & 5th graders will not play with 1st & 2nd graders). Each session will consist of 30-to-40-minutes of skills, followed by a two or three-inning game.
MYBS is keeping the registration fee low to allow parents to have minimal commitment to the program during their busy Summers. To keep costs low, we will not be distributing hats or uniforms. Each week teams will be formed based on who attends ("Sandlot Style").
- Location: Wheelock Fields
- Times: 5:30-7:00 pm on TUESDAYS, starting around the third week of June and will run for 6 weeks, excluding the week of July 4th
- Cost: $50
- Equipment: Players are expected to have a helmet with a cage, a glove, and a bat is recommended but not required. Girls are encouraged, but not required to wear softball pants. Cleats are not required (you can use cleats from other sports at this age or sneakers). Coaches will have some shared equipment.
8u, 10u, 12u Travel Softball
Players will participate in at travel season playing in the MetroWest Softball League. The program is very similar to the Spring MetroWest softball.
- Equipment: Players are expected to have a helmet with a cage, a glove, and a bat is recommended but not required. Jerseys and hats will be provided. Players are required to wear a fielding mask as they are transitioning to a hard ball.
- There will be two games per week for 6 weeks starting in June and going through July. There is an expectation that players are not away on vacation for extended periods. Contact your grade coordinator with questions regarding commitment level.
- 8U program - (Current 3rd Graders) in previous years there have not been enough teams to form a league, if we are able to field a team we may consider entering them into the 10u B division. This is up to the coordinator based on the team's skill level.
- 10U Program - Games are typically on Tuesday/Thursday nights
- 12U Program - Games are typically on Monday/Wednesday nights If we can field enough girls we will submit a team. Please do not hesitate to register, we are not collecting fees at this time until we confirm there are enough players.
